Likewise... :( I also used to play the clarinet. Although the clarinet was never a huge interest of mine, I really would like to start back up on the piano or the keyboard.

i used to play keyboard .. regretful that i stopped as it definately gives you an edge if wanting to compose music..

for all those little kids out there who want to be future producers, don't stop those piano lessons !!

SeventhSun
I used to be good at guitar, still have the thing, but when i pick it up and play it seems ive lost my touch now.
DigiNut
I played the piano for about 10 years, oboe for 8... I can still play both, pretty well, passed the instrumental exams and all, but I don't have much time for it these days.

Piano/"keyboard" may help a little if you're trying to compose or produce, but what really helps if you're trying to come up with something original (i.e. in my case, the classic "okay, what am I supposed to do next" moment) is theory/harmony study, and also good experience with various styles (Indie for psy, Asian for chillout, African for tribal or electro types, modern jazz especially for all types, and others).
