Exotic sounding songs

Do these exist?
I'm kinda getting hooked on this stuff, songs with an East-Indian/Persian/exotic sound to it, but I can't stand some of the hardcore East-Indian stuff...
So, any recommendations? (if any exist :( )
A perfect example is that Turkish Bazaar song in that huge thread, not the part that sounds like some really bad church organ, but the part with that little stringed instrument...GAAH I can't really describe it, but hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about.

give indian classical music a try..try music by zakir hussain (worlds most famous tabla player)...ravi shankar (sitar mestro) ..try these for a start...then download what we call a 'jugalbandi' ..basically these instruments competing with each other in turn to create musical harmony....so ull hear the table first,,then the sitar will follow..then the tabla will reposnd to the ditar and the sitar back to the tabla on a different note...sorta like a musical battle...
anyway just get music by the peopel i mentioned and that sohuld take care of ur east exotic fantasies for now |
