i dont think its that stupid... liberal or not, if you see for personal freedoms then they should be applied accross the board. some people grow up in a society where being nude is acceptable, others may grow up in a society that freely and pompously expressing their religious views. if one wants to live in a truely liberal world where everyone has their personal freedom and liberties (which im all for), then we shouldnt make fun of one group or say that one is worse then the other. i hope those contestents have as much fun in their preaching contests as those who love being naked enjoy the festivities of a summer camp |

Perhaps I don't know as much as I thought about Christianity, but I sincerely thought the idea and concept behind a preacher and minister was to help people understand God and Jesus' word better, and to help bring them closer to God and Christ (in a nutshell). I suppose this little competition isin't too sacreligious, but it seems to defeat the purpose somewhat of what a preacher's duties really are. They shouldn't be in competition against one another for their own personal gain here, should they?

Whatever to each their own ... I agree with Izzy, what are you going to do? The concept of having a juevenille nudist camp is just as foreign to me as the concept of a preaching contest ... except for one of those, I think there stands a significant chance for some kids to be molested :rolleyes:
Edit: And no I'm not implying that it could be a roman catholic preaching contest :D |

I read the link and am trying to work out why you are so opposed to this?
I wouldn't do a thing like this, because i would find it boring. But just because i wouldn't do it and it doesnt take my fancy doesnt mean that i would laugh at the people who do, that is just ignorant!
An old friend of mine has just turned into one of these religious freak people as you would say. He is the kindest person on earth, and he went to university before he changed his way of life. he quite university because he didnt like that way of life - clubbing, drinking etc.. He told me being with god is better than anything. its a big shock to see someone be so different, i mean, anyone who is different or not normal are obviously weird people with something wrong with them right? :rolleyes:. After though, you really realise he is happy and you feel quite ashamed of yourself for being the fool. He is a firm attender to his parish, and is a top bloke as he was before.
I find it quite sad you laugh at people for being different!
Oh well, its good that everyone is different otherwise this world would be such a boring place as topics like these wouldnt arise |
