Connecting To The Internet Wirelessly ??

I need to find a way of connecting to the Internet wirelessly so I can use it on my computer in my room.
My parents won't let me have it becuase I'm already banned from the main computer watching porn! :rolleyes: :D :D but I really need it for downloading new tunes also. I havn't been able to use the internet for months now, and it's killing me not being able to listen or hear about the latest trance releases :crazy: :eyespop:
I recently brought a wireless phone/modem, but it didn't work, and I got found out anyway :( My friend reccomended to me that I get a wireless network card to connect both computers up to. The problem is that he's having trouble getting his to work and Iam doubtfull that they will be able to share an internet connection. If it does work however it would be an extra advantage and I could use a broadband connection as well as being able to quickly transfer files without having to use cds.
Basically I really need some advice on what to get. Any devices that would share the broadband connection would be an extra advantage.

Yeah a wireless ethernet card in all computers in the house will enable you to use your computer on the internet.... I hope you already have DSL or Cable..... You will have to get another router if the one you have already doesn't support wireless... Plus, your computer will have an antenna out the back of it... And I am not sure what comes out the back of the router..... or if it's just the antenna on the router which catches the signal from your computer....
Most all ethernet routers that support wireless also support non-wireless ethernet cards So your parents' computer could still use a cat 5 cable to connect their computer to the router, and you could use a wireless ethernet card Linksys is good very easy to use, very little compatibility issues
One time... late at night... when everyone was asleep... I ran a phone cord from my neighbors house phonebox to my room so that I could use the internet. hehehe... Yeah I remember being banned.. but it wasn't from watching porn! |

mobile as in cell phone? I have no clue where this guy lives or what not... It runs about ohhh lots of money here in the US to use your cell phone for internet access and download.... Atleast 50.00/mo depending on how many megabytes you download.
Let's see.. if you don't already have a wireless compatible router... it runs about 80 us dollars.... and 50 for an wireless ethernet card. plus you better have dsl/cable already |

what kind of internet connection do you have? the wireless router wont be that much.. less than 200 dollars.
for dialup id use a cellphone--laptop connection since i have unlimited nights and weekends. i donno if getting a wireless router would be eco0nomical with dialup.
just tell us what kind of conneciton you have and why your last router didnt work...maybe you got some settings wrong or soemthing |

either get 2 wireless nic's or 1 wireless nic and a wireless router
you will need to check the security settings for the wireless networking, ive read in a few computer mags about hackers being able to conect to the wireless card and "borrow" your internet conection, as well as go through your files etc |

Just because you have unlimited night and weekends doesn't mean you can use your phone unlimitedly as a modem during that time.
Any why get two wireless NICs IF you don't need to.... Keep the router by the parents' comp and a non-wireless nic in it... and put a wireless NIC in your comp. it'll save you some money :)
maybe he should just become a hacker, connect to someone elses wireless networking card, andborrow someone elses connection.... |

BTW if your parents found porn on the computer they might also notice that something is different about An antena is not likely to go unnoticed :)Im my expirience, parents usualy know everything thats going on on a computern or absolutely nothing :)
On the other hand if they cought you while watching porn (eewww:nervous: ) you just might get away with some mods to the computer :) |

you could use a wireless router and a wireless net card. a good router should run @ about $100.

Connect it wirelessly.. as some computer shop or look up on the internet...
umm sum nic cards have an antenna connected to them.. that means that it would probably behind ur PC..away from ur paren'ts eyes...
only problem then is that the main computer will hae to be on for it to share the net...
pr0n.. lol... don't yah know rule # 405 of the internet ethics handbook..
it states
"though shall view pr0n only when the house is empty..." |
