Now thats just taking the piss, why do they have to say Bankstown?
They can smell my but not suck it. |

i'd have to say that the article is pretty much bull.
i assume the first guy got busted not because he was a dj, but because he was part of MP3/WMA land (large mp3 website - quite illegal might i add)
as for the second guy.. well cant remeber now (read the actualy article in the paper...)
oh well - thats my $0.02 worth. |

Just a few thoughts on the subject(s) :
Smoking kills more peole in this country then every other drug (legal and illegal) combined. I think this statistic in its own right should be remembered when comparing to other drugs - smoking DOES kill, other drugs are only suspected to do "damage" (im not talking hardcore drugs (Heroin, etc) here which i think every one agrees should remain illegal!), thats the facts. The fact that smoking is still legal when faced with that evidence is unbelievable. But then our governments (im talking both labor and liberal) have never been particularly rational or fairminded. Whats good for one thats contributing to the party is evil for the one thats not.....
And just on a little side thought - maybe the pot growers should start up a lobby party similar to what the tobacco industry have.... marijuana would be legal with in a year i bet!! :D:D
Now on the music topic :
i noticed 2 of the artists mentioned as being prosecuted were Peewee Ferris and Nik Fish, they were both prosecuted cause they released 2 Cd's (Nik - digital domain and peewee - digital domination) on an actual (albeit dodgy) record label with out paying ANY royalties for the tracks used. Im guessing that similar situations occured for all the other dj's! I wouldnt be suprised to find that this article has been written to try and frighten people into not using mp3s.... if you make a cd, sell it and dont pay royalties thats illegal and will be chased down, if you d/l a Mcload of mp3's (and i think were talking the users that have like a hundred thousand mp3s in there collection), you will get prosecuted or if you run a website that distributes mp3s to the masses the you'll get done, but apart from that i think its mainly just there to scare parents in to telling there kids not to download anymore. I think were all pretty safe...... |

Nahh, They can't stop it! They'll have to adapt. "Survival of the fittest" situation all over again. Music industry will have to review it self and cut the megamillion dollar profits for a while or indefinetly. Maybe in future they'll have to stop releasing titles in CD medium and go completely digital with embedded digital rights managements etc to stop or minimize piracy.
Same things happening to movies as well but it seems to be the Movie industry is multipliying its profits on the contrary. Why????
(ps: i know the answer):D |
