english vs native language

i was listening to In My Memory today, great cd. And i thought to myself. what inspires a producer to chose english over their native language.

like tiesto is dutch, but he uses english for all the vocals on his cd. From what i have heard, he cant even speak english very well, nothing against him for that.

the only reason i can think of, is to give the music a more international appeal, cause so many people speak english.

any thoughts?:conf: maybe from some producers out there

That's what I reckon.

I think (dutch myself) that using dutch vocals would sound extremely corny, it just wouldn't sound right. There are loads of artists (not only trance) that use the english language for their vocals in Holland, and most of them have no intention of marketing their music abroad. But perhaps the international appeal is a factor as well.

i would think, on a lot of vocal remakes, that the singer writes the lyrics, or at least writes them with the artist, so that might have a lot to do with it.

and yeah, i would have thought a lot comes down to audience to, but it is nice to hear non-english vocals, like Lolo's 'Ocean of stars'.

wow, i'd love to hear a song with just a few lyrics in it. in dutch:happy2:

havent wondered that till now actually..but that is kind of interesting why producers would choose english over their native language..

but in the case of tiesto, he is such an intl figure that he would be kind of expected to produce in english..if it were a local artist he probably wouldnt

maybe that is where all the good singers come from. english speaking countries. who knows.

I like some japanese trance singers like Laut Sprecher - Omnibus
Dave Albert
Well. Its very likey they use english bcuz of the intl scene. But, there are tones of tracks that have vocals in other languages. And Tiesto speaks enlish fine. Has an accent but nothing big IMO

One of my fave trance songs is

AYumi Hamasaki - Whatever (Ferry Corsten dub mix)

It has wailing Japanese woman lyrics......

Awesome song though. :D

It prooves a song doesn't need to have english lyrics to be good. ;)

edit- It also proves I need to learn to spell.:D

i quite despise my native language

that, and the fact that i have much more versatility with english

lead..to the fact that..
i write in english,
and,
if vocals were ever present in one of my tracks,
they would be in english.

but, hell
'marinero' by angelic touchdown..or 'el ni~o' by agnelli & nelson,
those i quite like, hyocritically enough

From what I've actually heard he speaks English very WELL. This subject is kinda weird with me. It just seems that English will one day be the only language everyone speaks. I mean, look at everyone on this board. Everyone speaka da englass. And the difference between American's and everyone else is that we aren't really required to learn a 2nd language, and for those that are, we forget it after high school anyways. It seems Everywhere else has a greater emphasis on ENglish as a 2nd language. Thats my .02 as to why they are in songs.
