| they make their money of service charges. $25/hour for fixing a pc plus they add a little more to their prebuilt bundles (not everyone knows how to build their own pc) |

OK, now for a constructive post.
If I were you, I'd
1. Get an ABit IS7 or IS7-G
2. Get a Logitech MX500 or MX700
3. Get the Logitech Z560
4. 2X512 DDR400 (preferabbly some quality like OCZ, Corsair, Mushkin)
Everything else looks great. The 2.4C is a superb choice for overclocking. If you're looking for a great case that's not too expensive I'd check out some of the Chenming cases. If you're going for some mid-end stuff try the Antec AMG series. Good luck. |

You guys also got to remember that Canada Computers is busy like hell (if you ever go there you'll see why), so don't expect great customer service. Once they have your money, you're on your own so it's best that you know what you're doing.
|
The big if is whether or not you know what you are doing. If you do, it really isn't that big a deal. If you go in clueless you're in trouble, but NightCreature seems to know what he's doing. The store is always rammed, but bring in a list with the stuff you want and you'll be ok. The only problem is that you may feel very out of place if you aren't Asian ;)
NightCreature, if you have no experience building computers or are hesitant it may be better to go somewhere else though. It took me a couple of days and much frustration to make my computer work (without rebooting whenever it felt like, on a fresh install of XP). I'm glad I figured it out myself... I wouldn't have wanted to get help from Canada Computers. |

1) Drop the speakers. The sound quality will be crap anyways, you are much better off with attaching a stereo system to it, or just using headphones..
2) Why you need the keyboard? Can't you use one from your old computer?
3) Are you a gamer? I'm more than happy with my 32MB card(heck, I probably don't even use it to it's full potential)
I think for your needs(running an app. server, db, jbuilder, visual studio, other programming ) you just need a fast processor, LOTSA ram (1GB will be enough) and decent hard drive.. Anything else is extra :D |

Does that C by any chance stand for "Celeron"? Cause if it is stay AWAY from Celerons. I Prefer AMD, however, a Pentium 4 Will last u longer and is better if u intend to do any Video or audio editing. Ram is going for cheap now so stock up on it. U can get a stick of 512 DDR now for under $90. |

I Agree with the Video Card. I have a Geforce2 MX 400 64 MB. It Runs EVERYTHING except for Splinter Cell and Toca Pro race driver. Geforce 2 MXs now gor for less than 60 bucks. They work Just fine :) |

C stands for the model. I think A is celeron, B is 533MHz bus, and C is 800 Mhz Bus cpus. Bus referrs to the number of wires going into the CPU. So the wider the bus the more data can be passed to the CPU at a time, hence the frequence of data exchange is greater (800Mhz). |

It does NOT stand for Celeron. It stands for 800 FSB and Hyper Threading.
This is funny because I'm also getting a computer and I'm getting almost the same thing as you! With minor details changed. |
