Recording advice

Tonight im going to record myself for the first time to MD so i cant learn from my mistakes etc. Im wondering if anyone has any advice or tips. Sorry if this was a really stupid question.

| there is nothing to it... just check you don't go into the red on your mixer or you get really bad sound... but, that's about all. |

Make sure you get your levels right.
You should probably start off about th 0 mark on your mixer.
This will leave you a little bit of headroomm throughout the mix. You should be aiming to raise the volume to about + 3 - 5 slowly over the course of the set. This will help filter a bit more enrgy into the set.
Also even if you up just keep mixing. I know when I started recording at first I found it really frustrating (being a perfectionist and all). Now every thing I do I record and the fact that I'm recording doesn't phase me in the slightest. |
