It's funny. I have a friend in Canada, and he says 'mum' too.
If you really want to go redneck, you can say, "ma."
As in:
"Ma the pigs needs a butcherin'.":toothless |

yes, yes, yes, when i was a kid, if i was 5 minutes late for a meal, it was like the end of the world or sumthin. im 22 and married and my mum still brings "leftovers" over to my house a couple times a week. im not complainin tho, cos she makes the best lasagna and spaghetti. i totally love spaghetti and her sauce is fantastic (my husband loves it too, but he isnt Italian, he is Irish,:) ). and she makes the most delicious cannolli. i love that when she has leftovers, haha!! |

sorry. "strega" is a term in Italian for a witch (usually an older woman) who can cast spells, make potions, read the future, stuff like that. my Granna still believes that stregas can cause all kinds of problems if someone makes her mad.
thats why she made me go and apologize to Strega Rosa, so our family is safe :whip: |

Strega is an Italian female witch, who practices stregheria (spelling?) the religion of Italian Witches. Stregone is a male Italian witch
