Hi. I found out something about those mp3 mixers that i don't like at all. I'm a vinyl DJ, but sometimes it's nice if I can drop in a new tune that I got from the net, when mixing at home. So I got traktor and atomix DJ.
But take a listen to these two samples, the first one is not pitched, the second one is pitched by about 5%.
Listen what these proggies do to the sound! They f**k it up BIG-Time.
What do you think about this???
sample one: not pitched |

sample 2: pitched
there's a whole lot of noise and hiss and whatever. And it's not because of the encoding. They are both encoded the same way, and the wavs were already sounding way different...this sucks.
opinions, please. And if you know a way to get around this, let me know.
I discovered this when listening to my May 2001 mix that was posted here. During the soft parts of Cosmicman and Let U Go (Wippenberg Mix) the sound was crackling so bad, I didn't know why. Now I know. |

| guys! don't you hear the difference??? Aren't you shocked? I think this just can't be good. As soon as you pitch a track it becomes all noisy? What is this? |

| hmmm...sorry dj dawn...i use traktor and virtual turntables and i don't hear the difference when the track is tweaked up or down...i do hear the difference in your clips but i don't know why that is happening...perhaps it's your sound card??...i have sound blaster 64 live and i have no problems...sorry, don't know why thats happening...jp |

well, i used to have sb 64 until 2 months ago, now i have terratec dmx, which is much better, but this happened with both soundcards. Could you do me a favor and try to pitch and record the first sample and tell me what the outcome is?
I think you can't always hear this problem, but with certain parts of the songs it becomes more obvious...when there are no drums and stuff.
Thanks for you help... |

well, i did what you asked and i had no problems with the sound...i tweaked it to about the same as pitch as yours from the original dutch1 clip and it sounds fine...hear it for yourself...i used traktor and there was no flaws...hmm, strange...don't understand why the sound changes on your computer....let me know if something changes...jp |

mmmmh, now it gets even worse! Your sample sounds fine, even though we used the same program and settings. What's wrong with my setup? This is really annoying :(
Thanks for trying it, dude. Now I know I can't blame it on traktor... |
