Batteries for Digital Cameras?

what are the best batteries to use for high drain digital cameras? i have the canon powershot a40, and it kills most AAA batteries in no time :( 4 AA alkaline batteries (which is how many it needs to run) die in about 300-400 shots :(

What are NiHM rechargeable batteries like?, as i think its the only option i have apart from engineering some type of mains power supply to it :(

How does everyone else deal with the problem? :(

I got a smaller camera, but I use 2 x 2000mAh NiMH's on mine, they last a lot longer than any Alkalines. Turning the auto-show on the LCD off after shots helps a lot too. You should be able to get a pack of 4 with a plug type charger pretty cheap.

Yeah, they will do fine, I have a pair of those I rip out of my mouse sometimes, there's not a lot of difference, I just suggested the 2000mAh ones cos then you get every bit of juice. ;)

I spent ages looking for the longest lasting, 2000 was the highest I found local to me. Some guy does them on ebay but I think he only ships to US, I think they may be ~2400's.. Been a while :)
