Splitting WAV or WMA files

Well, I'd like to record Tiesto's at the Docs set to CD... Since it's way more than 80 minutes long and in WMA I have to idea how to split it into parts..

Anybody knows how I can either split WMA files or WAV files ??

thanks

this how I would do it
take the wav file, and use cool edit pro to split it. You basically take a portion of the big file, and copy and paste it to another "blank" track..and save that blank track. You keep doing this for however many parts you want. Its really easy...im sure you will be able to figure it out as soon as you get the software.

Is there anything freeware(and possibly a lot more lightweight) to do this kind of thing? Thanks for the advice though, I'll get cool edit, if I don't find any other small utility.

I usually use one called HjSplitPro....can't quite

wait try getting it here........ www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

Hope that helps.

I needed to do the same thing so I could listen to it in my car so I did the same thing - loaded it up into Cool Edit, marked it off into 3 cue points - splits nicely into 70 mins each, saved them as wavs and cut to cds.

This way worked best as I tried two different WMA splitters and for some reason, the resulting split files were distorted in the sense that they played fine but seemed to amplify things like pitch changes and the static so basically everytime Tiesto had done a pitch change in between tracks, you could hear it to the point where it slowed way down and then sped up which ruins the sound of the mix. So I'd stay away from those splitters though HJSplit should work fine too.

I got two proggies: one for converting WMA to WAV ( called WMA converter) and other for splitting WAVs(it also has support for cue sheets) called CDWave for splitting WAVs.. very easy :D
Provitex
try downloading a program called Audacity,
pretty basic + simple.
