It was mentionned somewhere in another thread, so I thought i would ask your opinion about browsers..

Which browser do you use and why (or why not using another)

In my opinion I use Mozilla for a few months now. On my ADSL it seems to load pages faster, and also I like the Find as you type feature.

Also, bookmarks are easily exportable/importable (one single .html file)

Also, one big fscking point, it is NOT Microsoft. Screw them. :whip:

mozilla is more streamlined than IE and netscape, at the end of the day its down to personal choice really as most browsers are now based on the same technology, and since IE dominates the browser market, IE would be the recomended choice for newbies, while more experienced users could try out mozilla and netscape to see if they suit them better

Haven't tried mozilla, but Opera is pretty nice!

mozilla runs like a slug compared to ie on windows... dont get me wrong, i would prefer to use mozilla, but being that half the code for IE is integrated with the windows kernel there not really anyway mozilla can compete. I've found mozilla uses up to twice as much memory and it doesnt seem to release it when you close down windows. Also heaven forbid you have to load any pluggins, java and shockwave hog so much memory i have to restart my system if they load. Admitedly my system isnt exaclt top of the line but FFS its a web browser not Q3A, it shouldnt need that much resources.

yepp i used to use mozilla, and it is a bit more of a memory hog.
however i did get addicted to using the tabs...
thats why i use netcaptor now.. ;) which is sort of like mozilla( :conf: ) becaues it uses the IE code but is a diff browser with other features.
problem is there are many sites that just aren't optimized for netscape code, so they end up displaying strangely when using mozilla.

does anyone use firebird? i'm thinking of trying that out?

the basic diffrence between IE and Mozzila is compatability vs. relibability

IE:
Most websites are made with IE in mind so they work better with that program. Yes Mozilla is more accurate when it comes to the straight rules for the http protocol. But if no one uses the protocol right it doesnt really matter now does it.

Mozilla:
Generaly more stable than IE. (when it crashes it doesnt take down your whole system, Since it is not inside the core of windows)

The popup blocker built into mozilla is a nice touch.

from my experiences

mozilla firebird > opera > ie > netscape 4.x

Yes, Mozilla is much more of a resource hog than IE although in general I've found that all versions of Netscape/Mozilla from 4.x onwards run much slower than IE. I have 256 MB RAM here and when I've got a large amount of programs open, it takes seconds to load Mozilla when switching between other programs.

For IE I hold my opinion that 5.5 is the best version, as the "integrated" IE6 in Windows XP has let me down on too many occasions.

On a side note, interestingly back in 1995-1996, I remember everybody was using Netscape. Microsoft only ended up dominating the market when they started "integrating" their browsers into Windows, and by making the internet" look more and more like a standard feature of Windows, obviously sticking IE in with it. I think exactly the same thing is happening with MSN Messenger and ICQ nowadays, as less and less people are beginning to use it now and when you install Windows XP or IE5.5, you have no choice but to install MSN Messenger. Even my brother who doesn't even know what the start menu is for is using MSN Messenger now. :D

Just recently switched to Mozilla because the pop-ups were just getting ridiculous on IE.

I haven't found anything lacking with Mozilla except for some pages just don't load right. I miss IE, but pop-ups are the devil, so I'll do whatever it takes to stop the pop-ups (without having to buy some stupid add-on for IE that is).

I've used Firebird for 1 week now i still hold Ie before it. I think Firebird slows down terribly when you have alot of windows runnin.

I use Firebird for my porn surfing.. i like the pop up stopper. :D

Intense_Sounds
Opera all the way.

-mouse gestures
-pop-up stopper
-highly customizable
-lighter footprint
-one fast mofo at loading pages
-integrated mail/news client
-all those other mozilla features + more

Anyways, MS said that they will not be making any more standalone IE versions.
