That petition is not only what I believe, but I'd even claim that every word is objectively true. It was clearly written by someone who knows his politics inside out. Those Anti-War people who are ignorant give it out by making smaller or bigger mistakes, but this petition is 100% pure-facts stuff.

And look at the language. It was not written for the local newspaper by some bleeding-heart liberal mother. Most probably by a brainstorming group of Anti-War journalists, analysts and technical writers. I'm teaching scientific writing at my university, so I immediately spot out capable colleagues.

The only question is who is the petition directed to? Ordinary citizens (whether Anti-War or not) don't have sufficient knowledge to sign it. So it must be for political experts.

It should by now be clear that a great number (possibly even a majority) of the American military staff, intelligence agents, diplomats and politicians agree 100% with that petition. Powell was the last hope for them because he's a true patriot and a military man, something that American patriots (and some US-friendly Europeans like me) hold in esteem.

I'd say that if you brought alive the American Founding Fathers, or the great majority of 20th century American Conservatives, they would write exactly a petition with such wording. At least after seeing what Neocons are doing to the US, expanding the government, and destroying all admiration of the US abroad, which was so hard to build with sacrifices from millions of Americans in the 20th century.

PS. Powell is the one and only person in the world whose resignation would radically symbolize a start of opposition to the PNAC hegemony.

Vesa ... say it ain't so! For the principal supporter of the belief that the war was not about oil and was about geo-political regional stability (American styel) please say you aren't doing a complete 180 and abandoning your former stance on the issue. Please tell me you are suddenly adopting the over-exagerrated, media hyped DU weaponry effect (despite my uncontested research into the issue) and proclaiming American institgation of hostilities in 91! The letter may correlate with your arguments on certain points but 100% pure facts??? Please say you aren't unilaterally adopting the stance contained within this letter! And ultimately the intent would only weaken your cause ... Powell is perhaps the only true "moderate". You think removing him would constitute any effect upon the more extremist elements of the administration? Think RATIONALLY.

i applaud the man who wrote this letter, very strong points, ones that are truthful.

There's a lot of good information there, and yet the conclusions drawn are laughable. Were Powell to resign, the government, though it may be discredited in the eyes of some, would merely appoint a more atrocious character to the position and carry on with whatever jingoistic agenda it otherwise would have.

good point, i didnt consider that

I too thought a lot of this stuff was along the lines of conspiracy theories - then I read a little bit about PNAC and the Neocons behind it. Shakka, it's not a conspiracy theory - they blatantly tell you exactly what their motives are:

http://www.pnac.info

http://www.newamericancentury.org

These are not merely theories - more and more info. is coming out and finally exposing them. Now thankfully they can't get their way with Syria:

PNAC is one of the most dangerous outfits I've ever read about. It's absolutely saddening that this type of comes from my country.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily people are convinced that everything they read on the Internet is fact. Tell me what you know about this man:

Oh c'mon Shakka, that's not a very good rebuttal. PNAC is a reality, not just some cooked up internet blog theory - it is very real. Did you read their website? It is a fact - and they readily admit their existance and New World policies. Haven't you been reading some of the Vesa's postings on this group? Simply dismissing this group as fiction will not dimish its existance.

So who's Lance Brown? He's running for 2008 Presidential election? So what? Perhaps I'm missing the point here.

I'm asking you to tell me who "They" are and why you take "Them" so seriously. Who is Lance Brown? He's the guy who created the website you claim is so real and threatening. And from the looks of him and his resume, I laugh at the purported 'gravity' of the situation you describe. No really, I'm going home to prepare for the apocolypse. So called "organizations" like "PNAC" exist solely because people like you believe in their existence and feel threatened by their "mission" which amounts to jack .
