iv never been into d:fuse. And I dont like people that think they are above who they are. he talked about being from Austin and how Austin sucks. If it wasn't for austin or the people here, he wouldn't be who he is. And "WOW! you get to carry oakenfold's records!" lol. Not to mention his set was just plane boring last night :[

OK...My review!:D
All in all I was little worried if the show was still going to continue, because of the hurricane and all, but after a phone call I was confirmed it would be. I was so psyched driving up there, just me and my girl this time, and it was going to be a blast. It took me about 40 minutes to get there from Austin, and it was only sprinkling upon entering SA. Anyways..
We get there and there is ungodly lines wrapped around both sides of the humongous venue. I was smiling, only because I was holding a pair of VIP tix; therefore no wait right??? Wrong!:whip: I walk up to the front talking to some chode with a headset on and he tells me I have to wait at the end. I said, "I in' paid $60/ticket to stand in line? Bull, what's up with that?" He tells me all that VIP does is get me upstairs. Fortunately my g/f, being beautiful and all, works her mind games and gets us in. Thank god, a rough start, but who cares, right?
WRONG #2!:whip:
We're both 20 yrs. old, she has an ID, and I don't. She got a wristband, I didn't. I didn't really care, cause I had VIP anyways. So...We start to go upstairs to the "VIP" section and all of sudden the jerk off that is handling VIP won't let me go up because I don't have a wristband. I'm in flaming hot right now, all that money wasted. So I throw a bitch fit, my girl gives me her wrist band and goes out of the venue only to come back with another on her wrist. I LOVE MY GIRLFRIEND!:happy2:
So we get up top and we see so many people up there, obviously the 21+ section is up stairs. I'm looking for VIP, only to find out that its the inner tables along the railing that everyone is sitting at. They didn't even coordinate the VIP seats, only letting everyone sit as they please. So I was pissed at that. I thought the VIP would get me close up or something. So whatever, let's try to make this night go well...drink here, drink there, I'm good to go.
Liquid Todd opened up with some 80's progressive, Industrial. It was pretty tite, I might say. I was digging it, it really got the crowd going. Not much to say about him as I only saw about 15 minutes of him, but he was good IMO.
Then came the gay ass fasion show, which was nothing like I expected, no need to describe any of this as its a waste of time. Oakey comes on after the 15 gay parade!
So Oakey gets on, and starts it off with a nice set opener. Don't know the name, as most of the songs Oakey plays nowadays are hard for me to tracklist. I did remember some, but they were already mentioined by Parsons. The 2nd song was the best remix of Little Wonder - Eclipse, and that is of course the Leama and Moor remix. I simply loved it, my favorite tune ATM, considering I've been spinning it myself for about a month now. When he dropped ATRC, me and my g/f sang the whole thing together, and it was truly a great thing. I've been wanting to hear that song live so bad, and to hear it with her was simply priceless. All in all, Oakey did not impress with this set at all, kinda disappointed, nothing really mindblowing. He didn't get into to his set much, but only point and make the girls scream(typical Oakey)! I don't dog him much for doing that, cause he can, and it obviously gets the crowd going! Very bad thing: 2 HOUR SET! I'm assuming Redline didn't splurge for a 3 hour tour, and cut his set to 2, which blew.
The FINISHER:
D:FUSE: I thought he was amazing, he came off after Oakey's last record and threw down the hardest bass of the night. He was totally getting into his set, the crowd was flipping. THen...then...he starts jamming on some electronic drums. It was so in sweet, something I've never seen before. When he comes near here again, which is often, I will go seem him again, cause' he assumingly blew the sound system up and it all turned off, and I left after that. I was wondering though, if he came back on after that 15 minute silence that I stayed and left for?
The night was OKAY: Oakey without the E(not drug related slow people). He didn't impress me, I've seen him 6 times and his New Orlens Mardi Gras 2002 show was my all time fav set, and nothing will ever compare to that. Final synopsis: NOT WORTH MY $60/ticket. Oh well, will see him again next time, like always.
Thanks for reading...;)
peace.

Yeah, he came back on. The beg. of the set you saw by dfuse WAS amazing. He DID play: D Fuse - New Years Day and a D:Fuse remix of Coldplay - Clocks. Which was a highlight! but the set drifted off into the boring progressive movement where everything sounds the same and I was like "Can I just go home?" But I had to pass out some flyers! :[.
The vip thing sucks, glad I didn't waste time on THAT lol.

| I'm always skeptical about buying VIP, cause of all the hype surrounding them. But this one took the cake, makes me never want to buy VIP again. I was getting tired after the power went off, so I left! |

It wasn't a D:FUSE remix of clocks. It was the heaven and earth peace division remix with his drum machine over it. |

Too bad. I was going to visit Austin later next month. Oh and there are 2 reasons why we love the SPURS so much. 1) They are our only professional sports team in town (Other than the crappy WNBA team but they dont count) 2) They pretty much own everyone in the NBA right now. Since we are the NBA champs. :tongue2 |
