Electronic Music Genre and SubGenre

| Can anybody help me on how to differentiate all the subgenre of electronic music? I am quite confused now and mistakenly give wrong judgement to half of the Electronic music I am listening now. |

| So this is all a very loose genre? Depend on individual? But I need to at least know the sub genre? |

There used to be a website with explanations of the various sub-genres of electronica (from trance to house to .. anything) and it had samples for what music from each sub-genre might sound like.
I lost the address quite some time ago - I'd love to have it again. :(

true, nobody can tell you. you have to find out for yourself. with listening comes experience, although it's really hard to say what the genre of some particular tunes is...
and wasn't ishkur's guide to EM vs. 2.0 up? i don't remember exactly, but i think i saw a new version of it |

NO, techno is a subgenre
techno is what ignorant people call all electronic music so in theory rap is techno just call rap techno and piss everyone off |

| the topic of electric music is so up in the air... that everything it has to do with... the categories... genres and stuff is all open to interpretation and argument... there is no set rules and the lines aren't very clear what exactly is what ^_^ |
