Went out to a trance nite last nite. I heard a supposed international 'Uplifting, melodic' trance DJ....it wasnt trance it was soft NRG...this seems to be the trend at the moment...the music is so sugary it makes me wanna puke...

I just invented the term....surely youve heard of NRG....here in Oz we have Hard NRG....kinda like hard trance but cheesyier...well this is soft NRG...kinda like melodic trance only cheesier (and going at about 146 bpm)...

Still don't get what you mean man? Explain...
is it like formulaic trance that's uplifting but just thrown together with the usual elements but doesn't make you want to dance and go crazy like some other tracks?

I dont wanna keep harping on AVB but I guess he is the best example to use...as everybody knows his style...
I would say his style is bordering on soft NRG..
If you can imagine DJ's that PLay that style..a little faster...a little bouncier..with a couple more drumrolls...and yeah formulatic breaks in the music..then that is soft NRG..it has been passing for trance for too long now...this is why trance has a bad name.
