My parents and bro' have been unknowingly accepting those certificates online to allow ad-ware and porn-ware to be loaded onto the computer. I gotta get rid of this crappy ASAP.

does any1 know of any really good ad-ware killing apps? either free or crackable it's all good. any other advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx!!

2 options...

1) norton Cleansweep...gets rid of all email cache...cookies..

2) and I would do both..

go to www.download.com and get Ad-Ware by lavasoft

install the program and run it...get rid of all spy ware installed on your PC..

or just get the latest version of adaware from here - http://www.lavasoft.de/ - sometimes download.com doesnt list the newest reference files :)

I think norton/mcafee virus scan will detect them actually...

i havnt used mcafee, but my dad uses norton and when imm visitng my parents i hate the way norton insists on hogging so much memory and the way it operates

I think that Ad-Aware is the best for scanning those spyware/adware

Norton doesn't clean the add crap that is install in the registy or directories you better off with ad-aware like someone stated above ;)

people already mentioned adaware. however, it doesnt catch anything. i recommend getting not only adaware, bu Spybot. you can find it on download.com (or just search in google, its easy to find). literally everyone ive talked to who has used both, says that both programs find things the other didnt. use both, and you will probably find everything.

Yep Spybot - Search and Destroy would have to be the most effrective app I have used to get rid of problems like you mentioned.

Url is here - http://security.kolla.de/

norton is more trouble than it's worth. it just starts wreaking havoc on all of your files.
adaware is great. my bro used spybot and he says its good.
