I think we'll see an increasing trend of restrictions and provisions being placed upon the patriot act, now that civil liberties groups are being heard.

The law was clearly passed "in the heat of the moment." It was done without thinking. It's like cheating on your girlfriend when you're drunk. Except in law, Congress has the opp to right their wrongs...

Given the fact that there was widespread support for the vote, 309-118, I think that not too many congressmen are very supportive of some of the provisions of the Patriot Act. Easier access to warrants for phone taps will probably remain in place, but hey, I'm fine with that. Oh, and I think we can chuck Patriot II out the window.

Thank God for that!

...even though it wouldn't affect me personally anyways...

Added incentive to hurry up and get their citizenship papers signed! Hehe j/k. I hope alien detentions gets revoked, but I think that aliens will always be subjected to a higher standard of surveillance operations. Oh well, some European governments appear to not have very many restrictions on surveillance at all, even among citizens.

I guess the government has realized how stupid and anti-democratic the Patriot Act (or that part at least) was.
