Twilo

Back when I lived in NYC, my temple for music, dance, and
a guaranteed fantastic Friday night was Twilo.

The greatest club in the world closed one year before
I moved down south, and it was a sad day for many.

I haven't really been in touch with the NY club scene since...
Has another club filled Twilo's shoes? Is that even possible?

cheers

First off...Welcome to TA, Steve!

As for your question regarding another club replacing Twilo? It will never happen. Twilo played a special role in the NYC club scene at the turn of the century. It's meaning and impact will never be challenged.

The former owners now focus on bringing the Phazon Soundsystem international (www.phazon.com), while the former managers of the club formed Made Events and now hold a partial stake in club ARC on Hubert and Hudson (www.madeevents.com). They run the Saturday nights there, and along with club Centro-fly, most of the international talent that comes through NYC will be showcased on that night.

Hope this helps!

Arc is the closest thing to Twilo, Mike Bindra who used to book the international talents @ Twilo 'MADE' his move to Arc, and has been successful keeping the music fresh in NYC.. Arc gets the best DJs on a regular basis ranging from Progressive, Techno, House, and now some Trance too... unfortunately, the club is waaay smaller than Twilo and doesnt serve alcohol.. the vibe in NYC is way differnt now especially after 9-11, i dont know... something is missing.. just aint the same anymore.. Centro-Fly is another venue that always did their own thing when Twilo was around too and continue to do so. their best nights are Thursdays.. and sinc its a 21+ club, the crowd is a bit more 'uptight'.. there are rumors of 'Spirit' opening @ the same building where Twilo was but i'll wait to see to believe it.nothing will ever 'replace' twilo.. its just sad that its gone and just lives in our memories now.. that place gave NYC mad props and we had something to stand up to these european clubs.. there was an interview with MOOGWAI once and the interview asked him 'what do you regret the most' or something like that, and his reply was 'not getting the chance to spin @ Twilo'.... *sigh*:)

ps.. LOL @ nawlins... NOLA !! what !:D :toothless

I'll definately check out Arc.
Maybe I'll hit up Sander on the 9th.

New Orleans is awesome.
Great food, great bars... no clubs though.

There is a House of Blues though, and I've seen Tiesto
and PVD there this year.

cheers,

Anyone know where to find old Twilo gear?

I wanted to get some stuff off the old Twilo website shop
but it closed...

I've checked on Ebay, but no dice.
