| It's obvious, you need to lock your bike in a locked house :toothless |

| sorry boss.. =\ don't worry about me though, I've still got my other bike. I'm just sorry you lost your mode of transportation again. Its bulle i think though, how could someone walk into your house, go into the back where your kitchen is, skip out on the nicer bike, and leave without taking anything else.. *me confused*:sadgreen: :sadgreen: |

as long as you don't leave your bike locked outside for long durations you should be fine...
Also v1 is so close to MC, Engineering, Biology... you do not really need a bike when you live in v1! |
LOL, speaks another victim of a stolen bike.. Wasn't yours locked when you left it ?? |

Sorry to hear that man...happened to me last summer my bike almost got stolen..
I locked it at south common mall, west mississauga(you'd think the suburbs are safer...5 years ago this area used to be sooo good people had character) and left it there for a few days. My car was at the body shop and I picked it up a little earlier. Being excited I forgot the bike and went back a few days later to see the rear wheel bent. I tied it with the frame but prob some dumbass thought I locked it with the wheel. Reason I bring this up is cuz I sent it for repairs and just picked it up yesterday. $90 for new wheel and chain :sadgreen:
Another story: Summer of '99 me and my friend were chillin in the car early hours of morning. 7 or 8 thugs came and tried stealing my car..askin for keys, wallet, etc. Cops came, sent the car for fingerprinting for 3 days, interviewed us for hours...it really sucked!! When I think of it now, its hard to believe the two of us(small guys) managed to distract 7 guys for an hour and so call the cops...I guess they were drugged up and f**ed out of their minds!!
Either way I hate people like that! :sadgreen: |

I don’ t think Toronto is the capital for bike theft.
We are not the biggest biking city out there.
Reasons for not being a biking town are:
There's not enough bike paths and bike lanes on the roads.
Drivers don't respect bikers.
Suburbia sucks ass. :D Who wants to bike an hour to get downtown?
If you're familiar with the bike lock company Kryptonite (who supposedly makes the best locks out there), Chicago as the highest bike theft. This is based on the amount of bikes stolen having a Kriptonite lock and who reported it.
I read that in New York city 170 bikes are stolen everyday.
I suggest that if you have an expensive bike for mountain biking, get yourself a below 100$ bike if you're going to leave it locked somewhere. This is what I do. |
