multisystem vcrs advice

this being a very international place and all, i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with multisystem vcrs. like what's good, what's bad, whether it's cheaper to get a multisystem vcr + multisystem tv or a multisystem converter vcr...
my dad wants to get one to play the PAL / NTSC formats but he doesn't know which one he should get. it's gonna be used in home for viewing tapes etc., something cheap $200-$300
any ideas? |

In general they are much better than the normal VCR's, a bit more expensive than the regular ones, but worth it, especially if you have a lot of tapes in different formats (PAL, SECAM NTSC), like myself. :D
