New TA material vs. The value of redundancy

Ok lately (and by lately I mean FOREVER) I've seen these threads redirecting newbies who are trying to ask us information, to search option. Now yeah, I find 'best track ever' threads that occur once a day and 'what is this DJ Mauro's last name' threads a little annoying sometimes but now that I think about it, how will we move on into the future and make new connections with new TAs if we constantly direct them into the past, expecting them to discover everything without any human interaction, which is the point of a forum. Or at least one of them. Heh just thought I'd ask this because I feel like I agree with both sides, however I think the 'talking to the newbies' side is going to win because it's just more logical and sensical if you ask me... :)

newbies always make posts regarding di.fm,kernkraft,dj sammy, robert miles, and difference between trance and techno

Exactly... that's the facts but what are your opinions on the matter...?

No they don't, they always ask directions on how to or where to d/l trance tracks from.

The way I look at it is, if it comes to trance or EDM in general then the answer is most likely already here. It doesn't take too long to run a search and look for your answer before you go posting a new thread.

All these redundant "n00b" threads do is clog the main page and knock the innovative and quality threads off of it.

Well basically what I was wondering was is there anyone out there who even remotely aggrees that there might be some value in talking to newbies about those things that they keep asking about, like just answer their question THEN say your opinion, like 'yeah it's cheese and I think you should get yadda yadda yadda'. I think this response from you would have a more positive impact on them, especially in leading them towards some 'nicer' trance than just saying 'oh go here', even though 'here' would have an answer too. It's just not the same effect...

Yeah I know what you mean. I personally do reply to them and answer their queries as opposed to just telling them to off and use the Search button.

i suppose a few ppl are nice enough to answer the n00bs questions, but it gets frusterating after a while..

whats trance?

the problem is that most n00bs post simply for the sake of it, to feel like they contributed something important to the forums. it's more of attention whoring, a "hey, look at me, i posted a cool question" than "hey, i'm really interested what your opinion is". all those "your top 50 for this hour" threads that run 100 pages - the same noobs reply in them that start them.

so i just leave noob threads to the noobs and stay out of them, because there will never be not enough new people to fuel the madness

that's what you get with a forum of any kind -- people constantly coming and going. it sucks to answer newbies questions sometimes, but hey, we were new once too, right? (well this is coming from a newbie so go easy on me! ;) )
