the term "disease" is used as a blanket statement. ive already said, at least HPV, is a VIRUS, not a disease. the V in HPV even stands for Virus if you dont believe me.
if you are freaking out about something like that, i hope you also worry for 20 minutes a day about all the flu viruses you carry in your body at all times. you think those go away once you stop feeling sick? they are still there yo. or how about if you get a wart on your hand? ever get those when you were a kid? same thing. that virus is in your body too. and, you might even get another one sometimes on your hand, but probably not. guess what? thats exactly what HPV is, just in your genital region.

for most of the other ones, again, who cares? you can get it treated, and then no more issues. just like most other major diseases that are non-STD related. so why does it matter so much?
oh. and unless you have never had sex, odds are, you have HPV, sorry to inform you. unless you are the 1 out of 4 people who hasn't contracted it. (note! it is transferred by skin to skin contact, so condoms wont really help you much there.)
again, its not an issue of taking it lightly. its an issue of being realistic. or, and issue of realizing that most STDs are curable, and thus, nothing for me to lose sleep over. |

i do hear what you are saying. logically it does make sense. but most people are not logical and i wouldnt want my partner to be scared if he cant understnad these sorts of stats. there is a stigma about viruses. they are nasty, dangerous, unwanted. even if everybody has them you still want to stay away if you know they are there. |

anyway, in response to the topic, your mate licked out a girl and is worried about contracting something? Well basically, there are very few diseases that can be contracted orally due to the antibiotic properties of saliva. Men with AIDS can recieve bj's from women and the woman won't contract aids. However there was this one case where the woman did contract it, but it was later found that her mouth was so badly infected with some other disease that left many open sores in her mouth :nervous:
anyway, the thing that comes to mind is the Herpes virus, as cold sores are caused by the same thing, so a link can be drawn from there to your friend. :( |
