People who collect things obsessively

| Why do we constantly hear of people calling super-serious collectors 'losers', like I was watching a movie with such a character (the guy in ghost world to be specific) and I wonder where this association developed, is it because these people sit alone and live in a secret substitute of the real world, or just because they're geeky and know way too much about one specific thing, like people who are obsessed with baseball stats. I admit there's something I dislike about finding out that someone has memorized a huge amount of random information, it's not just that they're passionate about the subject but something different than that. What do you think? |

| My friends who dont listen to trance think I'm weird obsessive because I know so much about trance/electronic music (thanks to this board) It's all a matter of perspective I guess. |

I knew a guy from my dad's hometown who (it was later discovered) had obsessively gathered paintcans in his basement. Empty and full. Thousands of them.
He was later the instigator of a murder-suicide.

i collect old skool rave flyers, ive been into the scene a long time, and back in the early 90's i was well into hardcore and the underground rave scene, and the flyers that were made back then were absolutely breathtaking, you dont find flyers like them anymore, as they oozed with passion, i did have loads that i had collected from back in the day, and i realised that my mum had threw a lot of them out, and now they are werth quite a lot of money, so now i am collecting them again and once again plastering my bedroom walls with them
Dreamscape 6 (1993)
World Dance (1992)
Dreamscape 10 (1994)
Pleasuredome Bonfire Night Party (1994)
there are just a few of mine,
here are sum that i need to get my hands on again

As a race we are hunter gatherers... its where our tendancy to horde comes from.
Myself (when i have a better computer) will go slightly crazy over tunes. But other than that i like postcards/flyers (but anally they all have to be the same size) not holiday postcards more random art ones. I dont have a huge ammount but i love the way they look put up as a series. |

Collectors give me the creeps. Collecting things like music and things you can actually use is one thing, but when you collect something like stamps it begins to get freaky.
I think all collectors of stupid things should put their positive engergy to make the world a better place instead of stealing soaps and at hotels >_<
BTW all collectors are psychoes.. beware and stay away from them ! |
