I might be making a new computer from scratch, and i was wondering, what kind of hardware specs do i need for half life 2, i know it might have not come out yet, but soon it will and i want my comp to be ready for it :P
cheers.
PS: i'm not asking for really expensive equipment. something decent enough to play half life 2. |

| computer hardware is way passed software now...it really doesnt matter, u can grab like 2ghz with 512 ram and good video card and it should be enough...for under 500$, just make sure it is a good video card |

Well, Valve says theyre making it so you dont have to have a supercomputer to run it well (unlike what doom 3 is seeming to become...). They got it to work on an athlon 800mhz with a TNT2 video card. And they claim for "optimal" preformance you want a 2ghz machine with a geforce4 or better video card. And Im guessing by optimal they mean most gfx settings either maxed, or high. And, according to a PC gamer article I skimmed through, Geforce3 cards should be able to do most of the fancy tricks fine, tho of course not pumped way up.
Ive got a 1.4 ghz tbird, 384 DDR ram and a geforce3. I think it will hold its own. To me, the game doesnt seem much prettier overall than Unreal 2003 (actually a bit less, UT2003 is all fantasy levels so theyre free to splurge on pretty effects). |
