I want to learn the basics and see if I can actually do it from my computer. Is there a good website that explains the basics? RobertRollie Well see, the thing about servers is, they have to serve something. You cant have a server that does nothing. A web server serves web pages, a mail server handles email, a file server stores files, a print server controls printers, etc etc The bottom line being, what do you want your server to do? once you know that i suggest searching on google for what kind of programs can handle that particular function and go from there.
