I totally understand where you're coming from. I am probably the only member of this forum who not only likes Linkin Park, but considers himself a serious fan. Why? Because when I sat down and listened to the lyrics in songs like My December and With You, I felt what I imagine you felt when you listened to ET. Maybe in six months I'll take the CD off the shelf and listen to it again and appreciate it more. Sometimes, that's what you need to do. That said, my initial reaction was not what I hoped it to be, and while I'm glad I bought the album (I own all of BT's albums, just as I own all of PvD's, all of Linkin Park's; they are artists I enjoy and like to support), I wish it hit me differently.
For those who really enjoyed this album, I recommend you give Linkin Park's Reanimation CD a listen. It's their own tribute to genre blending, with a lot of electronica, hip hop and rock and is overall a very high quality production. It's a lot darker and angrier than ET, but shares many of the same qualities.

I've been listening to this album for a few weeks now and have to admit that I do really like it. Its a real grower with some great tracks.

If this had been produced by a bigger, more commercial name than BT, it would be hailed as one of the greatest albums of the year.

Its not a trance production but a crossover of many styles. I really enjoyed Never Gonna Come Back Down on MISL and this seems to be a progression from that kind of sound.

Well well... what so say.
It sure is no ESCM or MISL but it IS a good album. I've only had the time to listen to it once (bought loads of other albums this week too, gotta find the time to listen to them all...) so I can't really say much more.

I'd say "Circles" is the real standout track for me... and Somnambulist is possibly the weakest track on the album.

Provetix, before you label me as a "noob" and criticize me for my comments, I have been into electronic music for years now, I am 27 years old, and I have a very good grasp on the electronic music scene and industry and have been classically trained in music over many years. Just because I didn't sign up for the message boards do not mean in any way, shape, or form that my opinion is somehow below yours. What is insulting is that one cannot take criticism of one of their precious "stars" of their favorite genre of music. I will maintain that is album is just not good. Once again, the production is above average, but the vocals constantly are subpar. I just don't feel this album, and I think that I lot of people would agree with me. I have given this album plenty of time to grow on me, and there are maybe three tracks that I would listen to on a regular basis, but none that give me any spine-tingling moments like "Flaming June". This simply is a pop electronic album that does not break new ground and has a less than stellar lyrical content.

Provetix, between you and me, you look kinda stupid now.

:)

You understood me wrong. I didn't mean that you were a noob to the 'electronic music scene'. Just that you were new to the boards. I did not mean to degrade your opinion in any matter (and I'm sorry if it seemed so) As I have discussed earlier, why it is a great album (to me). You don't have to go about comparing the album to Flaming June. This is simply no way of a method. ESCM and ET are two completely different albums meant to convey different 'feels' and it wouldn't come to me by surprise if you're disliking it due to that reason. As for the lyrics, well... I'm not going to bother because again I think that's something relatable.
k.k.d.
Although generally the album is just average in my book, one song compensates all others: Paris... I dunno how to explain, but it has this long-forgotten mystical dark feeling to it in the beginning...

That, and for some obscure reason it reminded me one of my favorite pc gaems of all time, Deus Ex. :(
