I'm sitting here listening to Scott Bond Vs Solar Stone - 3rd Earth, Fire and Ice tracks and Hydra - Affinity [Thrillseekers Mix], Cape Town - Touch The Sky - Olvier Lieb - I'm Not Existing, Sander Kleinenberg - My Lexicon, Deepsky - Talk Like A Stranger [Sunday Club Mix] ... Totally blasted away, I'm thinking, what is it about this music that makes it so great!?
When I hear other types of music I feel that it is repulsive and terrible... Especially rock, pop and folk-music.
I mean for real, it makes me ill to listen to that music...
Is it just me? |

| I know how you feel, even though I can appreciate music from other genres, I don't LISTEN to it the same way I do electronic music. This is my music, everything else is just .. um, not? :) |

... ahhh, i'm ok now. I've learned to appreciate other peoples music as well, even tho I don't actually like any of it. It's a big shame that some people cant do the same thing with my music. I guess they're just looking at it in the wrong way.
Especially the older generation. My nan thinks that "all of the music today is just boom, boom, boom!". I guess she's kinda right but she's missing out on the rest of what makes good electronic music.
Oh well, to each their own!

i agree that nothing beats trance, but if you say that, for instance, the corrs are 'repulsive and terrible' (folk), then my friend, you dont know a thing about music.
you generalize too much. there is good pop, rock, (all the types you hate) out there.
just dont limit yourself by saying that there isnt any good music besides trance (electronic music).

Reminder: pop IS electronic music ;) Just because it's not club/rave/ddr music, it doesn't mean it's not based on synths, samplers, drum machines, turntables and all this sort of modern musical paraphernalia (sp?) :)
Besides, there are loads of non-electronic tunes that are worth listening (specially classical music). Not to mention other electronic genres (downtempo, techno, drum'n'bass, hip hop,...). |

In this case, yeah, it's just you. Unfortuntatly, you are the extreme other side of the musical fan spectrum...some people are just blinded by pop culture and blindly listen to and follow whatever trend is hot at the moment...then there are those who think any other music besides the music they listen to is inferior and stupid, as in your case.
You say "Especially blah blah blah..."...seems to me you don't know about music homie. How can you say rock is repulsive? It's on the cornerstones of modern music, alongside hip hop...some of the greatest musicians in the modern era were rockers...AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, etc...classics that will never EVER be forgotten. Don't even get me started on hip hop...
To me, people who truly listen to music and love it don't have a full knowledge, but a genuine appreciation for what it is, even if it's folk. Broaden your musical tastes, and you'll probably realize two things:
1. How other types of music is
2. How terrible your comment is about other music.

And Hip-Hop? HAH!
Okay then, Metallica and Clawfinger is about the only other stuff that works for me...

| One reason why many people don't listen to electronica is cuz the majority of the time there are no vocals and I guess ppl can't appreciate music without vocals for some reason which is kinda stupid (you should enjoy music for it's sound, not just for vocals). I enjoy JPop and Rock/Alternative music every once in a while but can't stand hip-hop. Trance blows all other genres of music away. It's amazing how much better trance is than any other type of music, it's depth and ability to extract emotion from the listener can't be matched. :tongue2 |
