Hi all. My mate just told me about this site. What a wickid idea - a site dedicated to trance.
Anyway, my friend and I are putting on a rave in Perth that some of you might be interested in. Here are the details:
Antistatic and the UWA Hockey Club presents:
Tomahawk
Saturday 9th August 2003
8:30-late
Venue: UWA Hockey Club, McGillivray Rd MtClaremont (behind Challenge Stadium)
Entry: $5
18+ ID Required
The lineup is not confirmed but at this stage it looks like
8:30-10:30 Ash vs Door [tech-house & techno]
10:30-12:15 Jon Noonan [prog trance] (me)
12:15-2:00 Kronik [hard trance]
2:00-4:00 Kronik vs Noonan
Still have to find some door bitches tho b4 Saturday...

Hmmm... I'm not sure what you mean by ex-Risers. If you mean I used to go to the Rise but I'm bored with the same tunes every week for the last 2 years then yeah. I don't go there much anymore unless it's for an event or something.
As for a tracklist... I haven't made one up since last November, but some of the tunes in my record box include:

I'm burning heaps of this week as well (Kid Vicious - Proceed and Eon - Pocket Damage for example). Makes it hard tho when my pc blows up. Maybe I'll have to gut the hd and take it to my mate's house.
Kronik plays much harder stuff than I do. He's trying to make some intro track that samples Evil Dead 3 but I don't want to give too much away.
Kronik won the Rise dj comp and last year I won the MoS dj finals in Acapulco, Mexico, so we've got some degree of skill between us.:)
Anyway, if you like your trance without the added cheeze you should come down.

Cheers mate! The appealing thing with putting this on at the hockey club is that it's costing us hardly anything to put on. We need about 120 people to break even with $5 door takings. I was considering hiring Old Berlin but they don't have anything, not even a liquor licence! I would like to put something like this on maybe once a month for all the tranceaddicts but I need a good venue. Any suggestions for a venue in Perth that holds about 500 ppl, not too expensive to hire (so tix are as cheap as possible)?
Also thinking about putting on a bush rave on my mate's Margaret River farm, running it from say 9pm-6am or something? Drug and alcohol free of course :D
Oh yeah, tune in to TS Radio on the 30th August cos I'm playing a set then! Haven't got the details yet so not sure what time but you'll be able to download it I think.

OK I've got the lineup confirmed for this Sat:
8:30-9:30 - DJ Ash
9:30-10:30 - DJ Door
10:30-12:15 - Jon Noonan
12:15-2:00 - Kronik
2:00-close - Noonan vs Kronik
Plus, if you come in a group of 4 ppl the club will give you a free jug! Sounds good to me, plus drinks are cheap anyway. I think they normally sell jugs for $9 or $10 since it's pretty much a student bar. |

Pretty much all set up now... just have to pick up another power board and gaffa the loose cables. Also need to finish putting up black plastic stuff around the walls but can't do that until last hockey game finishes @ 8ish. Last night we went back to the club to do a 'sound check' which pretty much consisted of drinking beer and cranking the sound until we couldn't hear each other hehe.
I've been told that some people are a little confused about where the club is. It's right next to the astroturf on McGillivray Rd, not next to the grass playing field (that's the rugby club). For those of you who know where Challenge Stadium in Mt Claremont is, the club is right next door if you follow the road around a bit. |
