So I finally made my way to Destination @ DC Tunnel this past Saturday. The minute I stepped inside, my brain went off...it started thinking, and working, and planning...why? Because TUNNEL IS ING AMaZINIG!!!!!!!!
not so much the Destination party there...it was pretty half-assed, especially that night...but the venue (DC Tunnel) was UN ING believable...SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!!!!!!!
I have never been to Exit in NYC, I hear it is pretty massive, but DC Tunnel is HUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!
masssssssive wood dance floor, huge stage/ DJ booth area up on a platform (looks like something you'd see in a UK/Holland superclub)...first thing that popped in my mind "I DONT WANT TO SEE PVD AT GLOW! GLOW! I WANT TO SEE PVD HERE!!!"
something must be done about this people, Tunnel is an untapped goldmine, the minute I took it in, I knew it would be the perfect place to hold a big-ass trance party.
Their sound-system could use improving...the problem with Destination is they dont bring in many big-name international DJs, who would be just perfect for the venue...they focus on mainly Local/regional DJs.
Don't get me wrong, I give DCSkillz/Destination madd respect for bringing local talent to the spotlight, its rare to see that at such a prominent venue. But the potential is there to do SO MUCH MORE WITH IT.
I sorta started thinking, once Insomnia is torn down next year, and Glow has to find a new venue...move to DC Tunnel!!! Glow has the repitoire going with most of the big trance DJs for the most part in DC...and I think if they moved to a new venue like Destination, which pretty much consists of one gigantic room, that would get rid of those awful Hip-Hop & Latin floors that currently stink up Glow, thereby eliminating that undesireable aspect of the Glow crowd that presently exists...
I dunno...ever since Ive seen this place, my mind is just going a mile a minute with ideas of what could be done with this kickass venue.
anyone who has been there please respond!! We need to get something new going in DC!
EDIT: so as not to alienate the less trance-inclined TA's, this place would be great for big prog or techno DJs as well...but definatley PURRRFECT for Trance ;) |

I went to Destination @ the DC Tunnel opening night when BT was there and i had a blast. Would love to see trance dj's their every week. Would love to see Glow move there, maybe they could get rid of the silly dress code when they move too. I don't wear big ass baggy pants anymore but alot of kids in the scene that are really into trance do and alot of people h8 on Glow because it has a dress code.
Yaknow there's like 2 other rooms at the Tunnel too. Hmmm who to put in there when G&D are in the main room hmm.... |

1) Tunnel is in the Ghetto
2) No easy access to mass-transit or even a cab.
3) Glow attracts college students who rely on mass transit and easy cab accessibility...
4) Donald Glaude is a big-ass Dj who I heard went nasty on that crowd, review plz.
5) DC Skillz does bring in pretty big names, just not in the Trance rhelm... most of the big Dj's they bring are Rave Dj's because it is a Rave event.
6) I agree PvD does not fit in Insomnia...
7)air-conditioners... :whip: |

| Guys, DC Skillz isn't going anywhere anytime soon... Buzz is looking at three venue's... Not sure which, but apparently the rumors are flying high and wild as to which ones... There IS a possibility of a new venue somewhere in NE relatively near the redline... no confirmation though. Buzz has officially left Baltimore btw... and Dream is a decked out piece of club that Buzz would never go to in their right mind. NOT UNDERGROUND!:whip: |

| There's nothing "underground" about anything anymore. |

There's nothing "underground" about anything anymore. | Thats subjective, however, I would have to disagree... Go to Dream on a regular night, then go to DCskillz... I think the contrast is farely obvious.... Then again I guess it depends on what you consider underground anyways... |

To me underground means an illegal party thrown in like an abandond wharehouse or something, where if the cops show up everyone runs off and the dj usually gets his tables ganked, ohnos:(
Kinda like in that movie Groove, where the cops come and turn the power off 1/2 way thru cause they don't have a permit. God that movie sucked, HumanTraffic4lifeplz.
I've only been to Glow once, for Tiesto, and even tho people there didn't have 40" baggy ass jeans on, it seemed like most of the people there were there for the music. Destination did have a nice old school fever flavor to it when i went for BT.
btw G&D on saturday aieeeee. |
