| I'm just getting into dj'ing trance, and i have my first show coming up (in sept) but i still don't have a name. I spin mostly trance, mellower stuff, with some progressive. i know its not really important, but i don't really have any nicknames, and dj andrew just sounds really really stupid. I came up with minDrift, just because snodrift has been my online handle ever since i can remember, and i guess thats what trance does, in a way, drifts your mind.... i want to be original, not like the idiots like dj sandstorm (dont know the guy personally, just don't like the name), just because there was a hit with the same name, it just seems tacky. any ideas? how is mine? thanx for the help |

minDrift sounds kinda cool to be honest mate.
the era of artificial names is sorta over, for instance about 6-9 years ago i used to spin hardcore/gabber/speedcore, and i called myself DJ Distort, which sorta represented the style i spun. but now its a kinda childish name.
mainly now for prog DJ's etc, the whole genre is more serious, so 99% of the time DJ's use theyre real name.
but minDrift sounds cool to me, but if you sorta claim that you as a DJ can sorta cause a 'mind drift' by using that name, you should really be able to cause such an effect, if you understand, otherwise its sort of like a false perception your giving off :)
like a called myself DJ Distort back in the day, cos my style was hard as , and somewhat distort-like. it wouldnt be fitting if i played breaks or sumthing :) |

...how about dj Andr or dj Ander. Both are pronounced the same way (the first is just spelled out funky), and both have the gist of your real name, Andrew. Plus, when you say "dj Andr/Ander", it kind of rolls off the tongue, kind of catchy.
There is my suggestion. |
