Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Vs. Creative Megaworks 550

hello ta's :)

I have been looking at various speaker systems for the PC, and I have come to the conclusion that the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 and Creative's Megaworks 550 speakers are the best speakers availiable on the market.

I am still unsure what to buy though. One the one hand Creative's set look very impressive, and I was impressed with their Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard, which I have recently installed in my computer. I also currently own a set of Creative Inspire 5500's though, and although the sound quality is good, it's not the audiophile quality I want. Will the Megaworks produce similar satisfactory results?

My second option, the Klipsch promedia 5.1 set also seems a very good set to go for. I know a lot of tranceaddicts swear by them, judging from other posts, and from what I've read they look even more impressive than the Megaworks. However I know very little about klipsch compared to Creative. As far as I know Klipsch only sell their speakers through one online shop availiable to the UK at www.mdc-hifi.co.uk where it is priced at £349. Which is considerably higher than anywhere else. I also havn't had much luck finding a pair with ebay.

Please let me know your opinions :):toocool:

quote from some d00d's review:
"I returned a set of Klipsch 5.1's to get these and I am extremely satisfied. These blow away the Klipsch in every aspect. The bass is much smoother, tighter, louder. On the Klipsch turning up the bass just made the speakers start popping. You can crank these without them bottoming out and the bass impact is incredible. The highs on the Klipsch were muffled, almost like they were hiding behind something. The highs on the Z680's attack you so much better and sound loud and crisp when doin so. The price is a steal compared to what Klipsch sells their speakers for. If you thinking of going with Klipsch, well don't even think about it, get these instead..."

I have a set of klipsch promedia 4.1s and they rock, so the 5.1s I can imagine are that much better. I hear the logitech's are good too, but if you can find a good deal on the klipschs I say DO IT!!:toothless

I've got the 2.1s and three of my friends have the 4.1s. They all rock pretty hardcore. If that review can be trusted and there are speakers that are that much better... well hell...

i bought a logitech z560 set over a klipsch set a while ago. i love the logitechs. but i am using a pair of Jensen 8'' 3 way speakers as my rear speakers. but before i had them the set still kicked ass

I believe that the Creative speakers use paper cones which won't last as long as the ProMedia's cones. The 500 watt amp that the ProMedia 5.1's come with is enough to fill your entire house with music. I also was going to go with those Creative speakers but I'm so glad that I did not. My friend has them and they can't even compare to my Klipsch. I am so pleased with my Klipsch that I don't have words to express my feelings!

I purchased them a year ago from www.newegg.com for $380 I think. Not only are they good for music but they work great with DVDs as well.

One of the transistors in my amp went bad recently so I contacted their customer support and they were quick to respond and had an RMA out to me within the week. They told me that it is a known problem that they have since fixed.

I don't get it. Also how can you compare taste in speakers to taste in clothes? There is no superior clothes, people like what they like we all have our own taste. Unlike in speakers where you can clearly tell a good set from a bad one. How can you say this t-shirt is better than that one? A matter of taste.
