PVD nostalgia

OK so PVD is on top of his game right now.
His tracks are banging and his boys at Vandit
are putting out pretty good music as well.
A night with Paul is an increadible time.

However

Much to my delight I just stumbled onto a set of his
from 1999 at Twilo on the hub. I was there that night.

Hearing that set made me realize something. Yeah sure PVD
is the man right now, but his music was so much more soulful
and moving back then...

Trance is good now, but it was GREAT back then.

cheers

I disagree. To me PVD hasnt been that great in a long time. I mean he's still pretty good, but I find most of his current live sets boring, while the older ones still give me some chills. His productions are decent, but not that close to 99 level. So its hard for me to say that he's at the top of his game.

To be honest, most trance sets of late, including PvD's, haven't moved me very much. I don't think it is because the music is getting any worse, I just think that because I've been listening to it for a while now, it does not have the amazing new fresh sound to me as it used to.

I "liked" PVD before whenever i would come across some of his sets. after i saw him live for the first time is when i realized the severity of his talent. now i "LOVE" him. he is by far my most favorite dj because his ability to sense what his audience is waiting for and just when you think it cant get any crazier.....he will dish some out that makes everybody jump and go crazy even if they are not true trance fans.
i have heard some pvd that is "ehh...alright" but until you are standing there in front of him you wont appreciate what he is capable of.
i just hope that people dont just consider him another paul oakenfold. not that i havent had a good time at oakie shows but i just feel that oakie has been pushed to a throne here in miami that doesnt belong to him. i remember oakenfold's style as being mellow and jazzy-i never liked it too much. but then he gets out there and has become so "popular" that people that dont know any better think that he is the best trance dj there is out there. its just not real.
sorry, just venting. i just appreciate talent.

Very damned true.People's tastes obviously change, music has the same elements within it for the most part.
