exactly. they're bound to make a laser-on-vinyl with CD-player (like a 2-in-1) turntable soon. that'll be the day I'll drop the 1200M3Ds and get 2 of those.

First of all yes this is the CDX1 by numark like you've probably read about its an MP3/CD player with the size of a TX1. It has a piece of vinyl on top that moves when a track is played. unfortunately this player does play vinyl. :( And the other thing is that this player isn't even out it out until November 2003. The price that is on that link is an estimate the MSRP is $1200 US Dollars.

where exactly are these "technological advances" this CD-Player has as compared to a Denon DN-S5000 ?
dJohn
hahhah...exactly what I was gonna say.
They pretty much sized down the Denon and slapped a piece of wax on top to give DJs a "feel" for vinyl manipulation
Sounds like a stupid gimmick to me...the whole point of CD decks is to avoid vinyl mediums, which can be destroyed easily.
Waste of money. Just go with the Pioneer SMP333(or whatever it's called), which uses flash cards for memory for cue points, loops and samples, not to mention the player itself is a mp3 medium for DJs, which would obviously be the preferred method of transportation of music these days.

just a question does it play vinil or not?
Dj Thy
Nope, but I figure it won't take long before we see such a player.

Sorry, but the last time Technics invented something was like 20 years ago, so, personally, I don't expect anything new from them.
DJ_Maxximus
like i said it doesn't play vinyl

ChavezHype
numark's trying too hard to break the market.
One of the main demands by DJs is to have the "feel" of vinyl.
Well this is their answer - to me its like FinalScratch with a cdj instead of a computer.
Dzokayi
There's a turntable that tracks tangentially & reads the vinyl via laser. It was expensive & a bit delicate if I remember correctly.... not at all suited to the rigors of club life. If anyone's really interested I'll see what other info I can dig up on it...
