for those that play out
when mixing do you like to do it sober, a couple drinks or drunk
personally i like to have a few, smoke a joint and take to the decks... either drinking or smoking or both the whole time |

I don't like the idea of mixing drunk, it's a fact that you will have less controll over what's happening while youre mixing...you won't hear the result of your EQ'ing and so on...really bad idea imo |

I chose sober, only because if i drink, then it impairs my ability to focus, since I dont drink much or often to begin with.
I would never smoke and play, cause I would perform very, very bad...
Though there are those ppl that do better while intoxicated or on drugs... Usually, those ppl are used to being in that state of intoxication, therefore control themselves better.
However, some ppl just take one beer or one shot just to calm them down. But im a chain drinker, once i start, i want to keep going, so id rather keep my jitters before playing and just do what i have to do. |

I don't drink
I don't smoke
I don't drugs
I don't sex
Ever... not in normal life, not in party life, not behind the decks. |

I like to have a few. I usually get free drinks when I spin, so by the end of the night I'm usually feelin pretty good. I find I loosen up a lot more when I drink and I'm more comfortable to crank the knobs or throw in a backspin here and there. When I get into the music, the crowd gets into the music and I have a much better response. |

I find mixing on a single pill to be great, lets me feel the music a bit better, but I dont like it on booze, I either lose reflexes which hampers coorection speeds, or, if I am quite drunk, think I am doing well, when its actually a pile of wank :)
Sober is best for me tho |

I like to have a beer or two, just to calm the nerves. I've only played "out" a few times, and even those were pretty small. But my hands shake whenever there are more than like 5 people listening, especially if i know they are the critical listener type, like other DJs.
A few beers stops the hands shaking, and doesn't impede my mixing. I tried it on E once, i was LOVING it, but i couldn't mix very well, my head was all scattered. Stoned i only tried once, i did OK, but i felt like i was barely pulling them off. |

for crowds or friends I'm sober, when I mix alone sometimes I drink some beer, but never that much..cant really focus when I drank a few , then I'm buzy with other things instead of the records :) |

I saw Brandon Block once... that was a lesson in many things, but above all never get wankered whilst spinning. You will only make yourself seem like a cock.
Will usualy get nutted after, depending on which set I play.

i say depends because it depends on the circumstances and how many people i may be playing for...
house parties are definitly a HAMMERED situation. hehe :D |

Stoned is a lot of fun, but what I find happens is that you spend so long admiring your mix that you don't remember to get the next track ready, so when you suddenly realise there's 0:59 to go it's a bit of a rush to get the next track ready. Also I find matching beats to be a lot harder. A lot more fun, but a lot harder :tongue2
I find the best thing to do is to mix sober, be relaxed whatever way you can, then do your chemical enhancement and admire the finished product. |
