if you heard him on the radio (931,state side) its not his set!!
he only give the songs that he would like the CPU to mix its not his mixes!

Oakie past number 1 DJ in the world, now gone to , but still pulls in the beer boys. Tiesto (apparently) current number one DJ in the world, which tbh is a joke, and i have seen him live many a time, and atm he cant mix, and his sets r lack luster. his set was ok last night, but nothing amazing, like his NEC set back in 2002 :(

How many times u seen him live?

PVD is a bit different, apparently he is shy, he doesnt really interact much with the crowd visually, but he does mentally, saw him last weekend, and he was simply amazing, the whole club was rocking. He hasnt lost site of why he does it, not only for the money, but for the crowds. And anyway if motorola offered u a large sum of money to make a ringtone and ad, im sure u wouldnt turn it down!

U say sell out, i say sensible :D

And just like stars, DJ's eventually fade to black...

Come to think of it - we are worshiping glorifying "jukeboxes"! how sad... This doesn't go for DJ's that produce their own stuff, but still - don't you think it's rediculous that someone gets paid $50,000/nigt to SPIN ING RECORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i DON't care if you're the best mixologist there is, I don't care if you are the most tallented dj in the world.... Simply put - charging 50k a night is simply not even fair. , I don't think rock musicians make that much / night - take even Rolling stones. Ok, maybe I am wrong on that one...

Oakie is a weird bird... I have love/hate with the man... he's done a great deal for the scene and if you have a problem with his set, judge the set not the man. He's a brilliant musician and you're not worth the sweat of his nuts to judge him... he took a diferent path and like I said - he deserves some props, even if you don't think his sets are bangin'.

have a nice day.... numbnut:haha: :stongue: :tongue3

mixing comes second to trackselection. and thats what drives the croud and makes them happy and feel that special feeling when the right song comes on. and if tiesto is number one, he must be playing the right songs for a large number of people.

now whether that large number of people know what is actually "good" music is another question. or a majority of the people just don't listen to music that much and can be moved much more easily (or cheesily).

I'm not trying to stick up for tiesto, i didn't like his newest nyana album too much. (I did like a good number of the songs, but there was nothing special about them). but he like oakie (and PVD) know how to play music for large crowds and really get them feeling it.

and DJ's that can get people to really feel the music are "good" dj's.

DJ's that play really good music and know how to move the really musically experienced and "elitest" crowd (which i more than likely would be considered). are really good and and musically "genious" DJ's (but alot of that genious lacks in the "real world" area).

why should oakie have to cater to a small crowed when he can play large events, get massive crowds going crazy (which is a super high on its own) and get oodles of money for it?

ok, i'm done with my inebriated horridly written rant

I would say rock concerts pull in an easy couple of hundred per band, and if not a million per show for the very popular guys. I mean c'mon, like N'Sync, they bank every concert, its crazy.

It cost so much for these guys cause everyone and their mom that owns a club wants them. If it was chump change they were getting paid, you'd see them dj'ing every city in the world, just to make a living.

And the commment about doing it for the money, umm.....Dj'ing is a job. People don't realize that. If you said you didn't do it for the money, you'd be a lying sack of ! Just my .02. I wish people would grow up about the whole selling out . Get over it, they "sell-out" to make a great living. You would do the same!

peace.

charging 50k a night may sound rediculous, but clubs wouldn't hire him at that rate if they weren't making bank off of it.
it takes money to make money, and if theres clubs all around the world continously investing 50k a night for a DJ, I'm sure they are getting a nice return on investment.
and yeah it may cost 40 bones to go to that oakie party at teh club, but people are still paying it and frankly i'd pay it to go see oakie or PVD or tiesto or sasha or whoever. i don't mind being down 40 bones (plus drink costs and other costs :) ) to be having a good time rocking out to some great tunes.

yeah its great when you can pay 5 bucks for a show and see an awsome show at an intimate environment. id pick that over a 40 dollar huge oakie blowout. but its just money.
when you think back at things, you shouldn't think about how much money you saved, you should think about how great of a time you had.
the world doesn't seem to work in "rational" ways. you just gotta find a way to have fun and do what you can do to stay on top.

alright i'll stop drunken ranting now...

ohh wait. superstar rock/pop bands are charging waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than 50k a nite for their shows and are bringing in a load more money than a DJ
