In my experience they've released everything half decent that was posted in full on here.

I think mental was talking more of people ripping off his ideas as opposed to the actual tracks though.

Do you really think release groups will release all the tracks by every unknown amateur producer?

Hey Mr.Mystery. Of course they are not going to release every amateur production. That is why it's taking a 'chance'. But that is up to you to take that chance. No you don't sound arrogant, but honest.

Of course, when you have well known artists like Airbase, or Endre, Bren-F, you Mr.Mystery, Lightworks, Gil Shwartz, Haak, Santiago Nino, Sirroco, Thomas Datt, posting previews, then I can see the risk may be higher. I think it depends on how well known you are on these boards, and how great your music is.

I'm sure you can understand that there are 'some' risks. But I can rationalize that some people on these boards do not care about these risks, because a lot artists post 'remixes' rather than original productions. Of course I have seen many originals from you Mystery, and many others like Frenzy, 2v2, Novelty Pioneers, and many others to mention, but I guess some would rather share their remixes than their precious originals. I guess that's how it works for some.

How's everything goin there Mystery? I would assume that everything is going fantastically well with your music. Keep it up! :gsmile: -Mental
Mr.Mystery
Heh, it's all going just as it always did, thanks for asking :)

I was just thinking that if you are an amateur artist is it really bad if your tune gets "released"? I mean the chances are no label would pick it up anyway and it would only mean more coverage to you.

Of course it's different if there's interest from labels but if someone wanted to put my unsigned solo work out I wouldn't really care.
tranzMental
Good point. It's not like everybody here is destined to be signed. There are a few fortunate people who have been picked up here, and it's good to see some of them posting here still.

Me - personally, I never really pursued being signed to a label. In fact, I find that not being in a label makes me more creative. However, in the future, I wouldn't mind putting at least one song out there, if it's even possible.

I guess it's a matter of preference. You said you don't mind if your unsigned work get's out there, and released by those groups, and that's cool! But there's a few artists here who want to get signed DESPARATELY, and they would fret if their precious song was snagged by these release groups.

But you seem to have a humble attitude about the situation. I think I totally understand where you are coming from. I think the saying "There's a lot more from where it came from" can be applied there. :D They can steal your music but they can't steal your talent. -Mental

oh yeah, im not saying everyone should go out and try this. it is perfectly respectable to not post up all your stuff online and go thru the risk of getting it ripped off. i was just wanting to interject another point of view to the situation because i feel like that some people may have not thought about it and that while others )(probably most by a large degree) may still not want to release hi-fi or even lo-fi versions of their songs online, i think some people might take this progressive attituded towards using the naturally occuring phenomenon to better themselves. i dont want to force my views on anyone because as always there are many ways to look at something and one or the other is not necessarily right.

i agree with extalin, you make a very good point about the internet and music. i do think it can be very beneficial to the artists. But you already know im behind it cause of our previous talked about it haha.
