Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and look for a program called MSBLAST.EXE - stop it running then delete the following file "C:\Windows\system32\msblast.exe".
Do the following "Start >> Run >> MSConfig >> Startup".
Look for msblast.exe and untick its box then apply settings > OK.
Also, "Start >> Run >> Regedit" then search for MSBLAST then delete the two keys u find.
Download ALL the critical updates from Windows Update.

| btw. it hasnt made it work. still got the same problem, and the svchost.exe is still gerting errors, funny thing is there r two in my task bar, and only one fails but it still s up my pc. I ING HATE MICROSOFT, BILL GATES AND WINDOWS!!!!! |

First off, you can read about this worm on CNN, abcnews, whatever... it's a front-page story.
Manual Removal Instructions
To remove this virus "by hand", follow these steps:
Apply the MS03-026 patch (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...in/MS03-026.asp)
Terminate the process msblast.exe
Delete the msblast.exe file from your WINDOWS SYSTEM32 directory (typically c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32)
Edit the registry
Delete the "windows auto update" value from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run |

man, thanks for the help, but im not exactly good on computers, i only use them to listen to tunes. is there a easier way to do it? and considering i cant open links it doesnt help. is that what the virus does? so far i cannot: open posted links, cut, copy, paste, use the search comand on my start menu, wont let me open the windows update page, wont let me open my windows folder. any other things it does? and is this the problams u had? |

| used that program to get rid of the worm, but the svchost.exe still generates errors and half my ing computer then doesnt work. so after all that it wasnt even the worm. any other sugestions how to stop this ing program generating werrors? btw it only ever generates errors when im on the net. :whip: |

Did you apply the Microsoft patch?
The best thing to do (if ur on broadband) is go and download all of the critical updates from Windows Update, that should more or less fix most problems.
i know alot of people got win32 errors when they edited the RPC settings without installing the patch for the vulnerability.
u gota use that fixblast.exe *after* u downlaoded the MS patch,

right folks, this is one ed up virus - if it's even a virus.
I started gettin the svchost messages a few days ago and thought nothing of it, then realised all the copy n pasts e that was goin on.
Neways, i saw this thread and had a look, i've been unable to locate that msblast fule on my computer.
Also, i formatted my hard drive and put a nice fresh copy of Win2k Pron on and after 10 mins of surfin - same in problem! So how in under did i get infected with the same virus after formating my HD? Does this virus hang out in ur MBR?
Pretty confusin.. Maybe it's just something to do with dates.. MS ed up somethin, and ppls comps are failing on this particular date..
Anyone else have any theories?? ..it's a in queer of a virus i'll tell ya that much!!
