OK the title's pretty much self explanatory, I want to get into production, what should I start with? I'm running a Mac so I'd like something I can use on it, not really got the room/money for hardware just yet.

So what programs do you recommend that i get / aquire (hey, I'm a broke teen) to get into it?
hey cheggy
Either "Fruity Loops" or Reason will get you started in the right direction.

But Reason is an expensive piece of kit. Not good if you are a "broke teen"...

Something tells me that isn't going to stop him.

fruityloops.

I'd go for Reason. Its a solid and stable piece of software. And you don't really need anything else that the program itself to make quite good sounding music.
Even though the prize is a little higher than for Fruity Loops. You will have to get alot of extra VSTi's and effects to make FLP sound good.

But its all a matter of taste really. Try both programs and see which one that fits you the best.

I really feel that this question has been asked about a million times in the past month, so please, noobs, do a search.

I suggest starting with Fruity. Good luck.:)

since you are using a mac, i would start with fruity or reason, then go into logic it's a good program and it's now only being released for the mac... it is hard to learn, so that's why start with fruity or reason... on the other hand, you can stick with fruity or reason too... these 2 programs are powerful on their own and many "pros" use these

but yeah, plz use the search engine ppl!! there is like a "What is the best program should I use to start producing?" thread each day

Fruity mate, i have them both, fruity is better for starters, even i still use fruity :)

Gonna get one of them as soon as possible... dunno when that'll be, but I can't wait, I've wanted to try producing trance for ages
