Giving phone numbers or asking her out is okay (in fact, a funny thing about me is that I can easily ask for a phone number... or just asking the girl out, but I rarely call her when I get the number - shame on me :p).
However, if he tells her "hey, I like you", depending on how he says it, it may scare her. For some reason, it's okay to say that the girl is nice, good-looking, intelligent... but when you say "I like you (very much)", you need to be very careful on how you say it. But when you get to say it in the right way, it's all good :tongue2 |

guys, guys, u have to follow the flow in these circumstances, just invite her out for a cofee, get to talk a bit, then invite her home, rent a movie, massage her and [Censored]
Ok seriously, just take it as it comes..... just ont thing tough, expect nothing right off the start, or u might get disappointed and hurt, and that sucks big time

you got me there, it could be intimidating... maybe the other approach needs to be attempted? |

| how bout some good ole fashion talking to her and flirting with her and asking her out on a date. this method of courtship of a mate has seemed to work for homo sapiens for quite some time. |

I reckon this is the best approach :D Either that or doing something too original that he knows the girl will like (but he cannot push it too hard - otherwise it'll be intimidating as wienerschnitzel agreed - and he really needs to know the girl, in order to know whether this is worth it). |

doing somethign original and "cute" is always good.
talk to her, flirt with her ask her out and do something original for the date |

Yeah, post it, maybe we can help :D In case you want some ideas...
I'm not sure whether this would work in the US for cultural reasons, but there's something that impressed a girl I was seeing in the past that was quite easy :)
She said she would love to eat Chinese food but she didn't know how to use chopsticks. Then, I invited her to a Chinese restaurant and I told her that she wouldn't have any trouble. So, after insisting for a while, she decided to go with me to that "Chinese restaurant in which she wouldn't need chopsticks". Where did I take her? Well, do you guys know what this is?
This food came from China and became very Brazilianised (we call it "Pastel"), reason why most of us consider it Brazilian. How do we eat it? With our hands :D So I kept my promise: we ate Chinese food (she wanted to eat it, didn't she?) and she didn't need to worry about using chopsticks :toothless |
