If you get a tape deck, you can use your ipod with a line out to cassette. I have one and i think i got it at radio shack. I think this is great cause people aint gonna be stealing tape decks :p
If you wanna play Mp3 CDs thats a different story, pioneer and jvc have these decks for around 200-400. |

Good idea!!!
First off though don't be affraid to maybe spend some more then $200 because the Head Unit is the most important part of the Stereo setup. I personally use nothing but Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten headunits, but would settle for so Panasonic decks, or some Blaupunkt decks as they nearly never skip the CD, MP3 CD, etc. However if you are dead set on something cheap, check out www.ebay.com and search and save lots of money since the economy sucks right now you can get some good deals. Also check out Crutchfield, your local Circuit City, Best Buy, or car audio shop. Be that annoying bargain shopper, because believe me it pays to shop around then buy, otherwise you will usually get hosed with a scheitza deal.
If you need more help I used to sell car stereo head units, subs, mid/high speakers, etc. so call me if in the USA at (859) 224-9551 or email me at [email protected] anytime.

thx 4 the help, at first i was going for sony but hear so many ppl saying reliablity sux.
btw i currently have an old jvc casset, its got an annoying problem, the rear channel cuts out when i hit a bum. So I just wanted something with decent sound that plays mp3.
I read someone saying get one with a AUX in, but when i look at the HU faceplate pics i dont see an AUX in, dont want to have too flip it open everytime i plug in.
I'm not interested in expensive HU, cause i dont need it to be stolen, seems like most are very flash which i dont like cause it attracts thiefs attention. |

I have the z909, my bro has the 250 dollar flipface which makes it a flat black panel, pretty smooth MP3 player, no probs, reads CDRs fine, not flashy, but has big digi text easy to read |

That is why I went for the Eclipse stuff. It has its' own built in security setup and my eclipse has only barely skipped once and that was on a piss poor old 2Pac CD that had been scratched all to hell and back, this cd wouldn't play in any other manufacturers deck cept the new panasonics played it ok, but still skipped a little and same with the high end Blaupunkt decks. |

| Eclipse head units are the best, hands down. the high-voltage outputs are great, reliable cd playback, etc, etc, though they are expensive. also, a word of warning: if your car doesn't have an alarm system, or could be easily broken into, I highly advise the use of the cd lock, or just don't get one. could end up being more trouble than it's worth. |

| Most new head units have removable faceplates, so you can chuck it in the glove compartment when you leave the car, leaving a plain looking plastic front. This will prevent any thieves' attention being drawn to your flashy new head unit when they walk past. |

my old Eclipse head unit didn't do this, one reason I think it got ripped off. just be sure the faceplate can be removed, and you're all set. |
