:conf: Don't be so shady? I travel all the time with my friends, I was born in Hong Kong, my other friend was born in Malaysia, one was born in Iran, another born in Pakistan, and the rest are whiteys. We never get harrassed so it's quite possible we live in a dream world. |
yeah, you seriously need to get out of your dream-world state. just because it didnt happen to your friends and you dont see it in the news, you just cant assume, incidents like that happen on minimum bases. I'm not saying that it happens ALL the TIME. But it does happen bit more than you'd think. |

Nono, I'm pretty sure they had a very rough time in Toronto customs, not the U.S. Kinda ironic, considering the rest of this thread... (bashing US customs) |

Whatever, go to a 3rd world country and get pulled aside by those ******s. Then comeback and bitch about US customs. Sometimes will happen, you can't help that. A lot of messed up stuff happens all over. Way to be melo-dramatic folks.
I would also like to point out that customs did not LET in a British arms dealer by mistake, it was part of an elaborate sting operation that led to their arrest in that big hotel at Newark Int'l. Get your facts straight. :whip:
For the record, I have personally dealt with Customs nonsense all over, so I am not writing out of ignorance. I think both the French and Americans whining about this topic should get a grip. Sorry to hear that the girl had to go through that. She is fine now, and I doubt they really did anything overtly terrible to her. This is a reality we have to deal with, and NO I am not saying its ok either. |

yeah it is a reality we have to deal with but we shouldn't have too.
and when we are upset about something we have every right to bitch and moan about it, whehter or whining is called for or not.
it all depends on what customs person you deal with. i've had several times where i have just walked thru customs, no prob. last year i came back from a trip from greece into the philie airport and i didn't even get my bag scaned (altho all i had was a decent sized backpack which i crammed all my stuff into and i'm a fully american citizen.
its very unfortunate that this french girl had to deal with that crap. i'm sure theres more to the story, but i doubt an 18 year old french girl was here to cause any trouble. there has been a rise in anti-french sentimate ever since the whole iraq thing and it really pisses me off. damn freedom fries and freedom bread, makes me sick. but c'est la vie (i hope i spelled that right, i took spanish).
i'd happily move to france
**and yea she shoulda stayed in france over Detroit, detroit is the biggest ing hole of a city:D |

LOL and how would you know? Simply because it happens to you quite frequentely you can't assume that it happens frequentely outside of your experiences. All our assumptions are based upon OUR personal experiences ... so get off your high horse already. |

on a side note, US customs almost didn't allow Deep Dish fly to Toronto to record Global Underground 25 because they are Iranian born.
 |

| Recently, a secret service agent was denied flight with the President becuase he is of Lebanese origin. This agent had been on many security details with the president before. |

| laurent garnier wasn't able to do his america tour this summer because the US embassy dicked him around and wouldn't give him a work permit in the US. |
