while i was walking to lunch i noticed about 5 men standing on the corner or m and 19th half naked. to wit, dressed in egyptian robes. they were handing out cardboard masks/head dresses and surrounded a woman dressed as an egyptian queen in a litter. had these lovely poles topped with white ostrich-looking feathers.
i figured it was some advertisement for a new smithsonian exhibit (d.c. is full of museums) but i just figured out it's a discovery channel thing for "nefertiti resurrected."
i wonder if this was the only one in the city (or country!). i picture a similar thing happening on capitol hill and the ultra-conservatives pitching a fit over who knows what, but it would somehow lead to gays and terrorism
anyway, it was pretty cool to see and i was surprised it wasn't just a local advertisement! |
