Not really... that's when I liked Evangelion the most actually :D However, I've always seen Evangelion as a fight of Shinji against himself in order to accept his feelings toward Asuka and other people, not as just "giant robots fighting against whatever those angels are supposed to be" :) |

I totally agree with the main battle being against himself and his perception of self, but I think that those episodes would have been great had they been broken up and thrown into other episodes. As a the end of the series with him standing on the world with people clapping though? I felt that his victory of self would have been better shown through a true relationship with someone where he was able to finally love others, because he had accepted himself you know

I don't know; I guess if he found someone after Asuka it would be too awkward... I like the way it is "implicit".
