I tried using the Winamp forums but I couldn't post, it was a mess, so that's why I'm posting here.
I have two questions:
1) Is there a way to change the presets without displaying the options (pressing "L")?
2) What if I want to project these images at a party were a DJ is spinning, is there a way to make the visuals go with the music through a mic or a direct conection coming out of the mixer?
I wanna VJ at a party *smiles* |

So how do you VJ? You still need WinAmp to play music if you want it to display the visuals.. don't you?
Is there really skills involved in VJ'ing?
Thx |

Well that is for you to decide.
Personaly I would book/hook up with a local VJ. Ask on VJ forums if one is in your area. Or as you are booking international DJ what about a VJ to go with it. :)
VJ'ing can be a complex or simple as you want. VJ'ing can be a profession in it's own right. Most make there own content and have £1,000's of equipment.
If you are serious about I do beleive it would be in your best interests to go to www.vjforums.com and vjcentral.com and look what is available. |

Well I had heard about VJ's when I was talking with Ministry of Sound about making a party, but never took it as a serious job. There aren't any VJ's in my country, or if there are any I have never heard of, or they don't perform it at any clubs.
Yeah, I've been surfing the forums, do you know of any begginers tutorial? |

BAsics : projector, video mixer (Edirol V4 or PAnasonic MX50 (or MX1, MX12 and probably a few more), a couple of high spec PC or laptops. Then a software package with what you want to do clip playing, real 3d software stuff, etc, look at all teh software in www.vjcentral.com
Sadly there are so many types of VJing it is more like learning to play an instrument and you are asking what instrument should I play. I cannot answer that iti sdown to you try a few of teh software packages out and see what fits you.
Hard work most of teh time as you will have to be mixing for teh entire night not these part time DJ people ;) who only do a 3 hour set or they will get tired. You will have to be in for the full 8 hours.:) and then generate new material in the week. People will get bored of the same visual a lot quicker then being bored of a peice of music.
Hopefully one day VJ'ing well be a serious job. :);) |
