| prog can be trancy at times, but its no way near being a trance derivative or sub genre. it lives on its own and is closer to house than anything else. |

Prog doesnt equal trance!?!? Thats like saying Tech equals House. There's Prog House (my fav), Prog Trance, Tech House, Tech Trance. |

I was just informed by a reliable source that prog stands for prog house. Therefore I have reached a new conclusion.
prog = proghouse = house
progressive trance = trance
so prog /= just prog.
