Hi i have a question?
How to make a dj drop that says for example "DJ Big D is in the middle of the mix". Might be about 3-5 seconds long.
Do you use some type of software to do this. |

Hey Sebol..
How do you mean exactly... do you mean in a live performance. Whilst DJing or placing it in a song?
Sounds like a sampler would be the solution either way.
Although the only time I have ever had htis is when I do a mix for a radio station or something like that. Otherwise it would sound quite naff in my humble opinion.
Cheers

Yeah... thats what I meant in a live performance.
The thing is that dj's at radio stations or some clubs have recorded these "name drops". What they basically do... they play that drop at the end of the outgoing song... I guess it sound right... :) |

When the music is not mixed, it's ok to do so, the jingle will fill the blank, so you have no silence.
When the music is mixed (like in clubs), a jingle over the mix usually has only one purpose : cover a f*ck up... |

Record the voice-over into a sound editor like Sound Forge, then apply some weird EQ, delay, reverb, etc. etc. until it sounds a bit more interesting, then burn it onto CD and play it at the right points in the mix :) |

...or if the set is being recorded they drop the jingles here and there so people would have a harder time making reconstructions of rare/new tunes. |

I agree with TIMS.
Get someone with a decent speaking voice to run a "promo" for you. Mess around with in a sound editor. Cut-up the syllabyles or words apply echo, pitchshifting, reverse it, put echo, and reverse again. do whatever you like but keep it short. |
