| I was wondering if the quality of a soundcard effects how good your music sounds in production |

Depends what you do in production.
You can perfectly make a good song on a consumer card, it'll only take more time because you have bad drivers (more latency, occasional clics, but on the mixdown latency has no role).
You'll get the most out of a (semi)pro soundcard when you are recording. Those cards can record at higher bitdepths and higher samplerates (especially the first makes a difference).
Some people think that if you only work with software synths and software effects it makes no difference if you change the bitdepth and samplerate. Wrong, maybe with bad software, but you'll definately gain quality (for example a reverb tail is much more detailed in 24 bits).
So my answer is yes and no. Yes because if you use it well it WILL make a difference, no because some people don't even get everything out of a consumer card, then changing to a more capable one won't make much difference. You only gain quality when you actually use the capabilities of the hardware. |

| Thanks, I normaly run out of CPU after 4 vsts |

Hmm, that really doesn't say anything.
It could be either 4 cpu consuming VST's or you're computer being not powerful enough.
ASIO drivers are made for low latencies without straining your cpu too much (as opposed to other drivers like directx or mme), but be aware that going low latencies WILL put some strain on your cpu (the lower the more strain). |

| If you're not recording then the difference in quality between two soundcards probably won't affect you much. What would make more of a difference is getting a great pair of monitors (speakers) so that you can hear your production more accurately. |

| It wouldn't make as much difference as if you would record, but it definately makes a difference (for example reverb in 24 bit). But yeah, you need decent monitors to hear that difference :D |
