Sweet studio gear (SSL Console)

My (real) brother recently moved to LA (from Toronto) to further pursue his music career (and living in the Hollywood Hills can't be that bad either.. ;) ).

He went to college for music production/engineering and worked for 2.5 years @ Sony Canada as an assistant engineer.

In May he moved to LA to take a head engineer (he now has 2 assistants) job working with a well-known producer who does a lot of work for Universal Music and other major lables (the producer has done work with BT [Still life in Motion, Movement in Still Life] and The Crystal Method [Tweakend] {to give some context to the level the producer is at}).

The producer he's partnered with decided to build his own studio and as the head engineer my brother's job was to oversee the whole project (from equipment choice, to installation, to design, etc).

He sent me some pics of the new SSL Console that they've got installed recently.

Knowing that there are some fledgling producers on the board, I figured I'd post the pics he sent from his studio:

Now I don't know much about music hardware (all I've learned is from my brother) - but I am a bit of a tech-jockey and this thing looks pretty sweet.. ;)

That sexy guy in the pictures is my brother.

Enjoy!

I am hoping to enter that field.

I forget which one to be honest (it was in Ontario, and he lived in TO while he went).

His comments on this is however: All the programs teach the same - but you'll learn more in the 1 month in a real studio than you would in 2 or 3 years at college. And be prepared to be someones "bitch" for the first 6 months in a studio (getting coffee, sweeping floors, etc) - you have to pay your dues.

I know he applied to: Fanshawe, Recording Arts, Trebas (and possibly some others). I know he didn't go to Fanshawe because it's in London.

Not for another year or two.

Just about to start last year of high school.

I've been taking Music & Computers every year is was available and I have passed with 80s and 90s.

Any other classes I should take?

SgtFoo
Wow, you're lucky to have those classes even! I just took all the arts, and design courses. Had I knows I was gonna be in the Audio Industry, I'd have started high school in the music courses.
Just stick with those music tech courses, and do music theory too.

no music theory tho lol

I don't I think I should be worried tho...
I've taken Drama every year as well and got 80s and 90s. I've also got a few Physics credits, which might come in handy for the sound physics units.

Also, do u know how much a 9-month course is approx.?
